Welcome to Wigley Primary School
Nurturing ambition. Inspiring success.
On behalf of all of the staff at Wigley Primary School, I would like to extend a warm welcome to you all via our school website.
We all recognise the importance of the time your child will spend at school and are keen to ensure your child is happy and achieving his or her potential in a secure, fun and stimulating environment.
Over the seven years that your child will spend with us, our aim is to provide an enriched, creative learning challenge, which is underpinned by the essential skills of reading, writing and mathematics.
We offer a positive climate where children are encouraged to develop their learning, practise their skills and become confident learners through topic work and individual lessons. At Wigley Primary School, we actively promote the spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of our pupils. We uphold and teach children about the fundamental 'British Values' which are defined as: democracy; rule of law; individual liberty, mutual respect and tolerance for those of different faiths and beliefs. These values are taught through topic work, Religious Education (R.E) and assembly programme. Our curriculum planning and delivery includes real opportunities for children to explore these values.
We believe a productive education arises from a fruitful partnership between school and families. Each child at Wigley is valued as an individual and learning is personal to their needs. By nature of our size, we are a truly close and caring community with a real 'family ethos'.
Parents and carers can give their views of our school at any time of the school year and at the time of a school inspection using an online questionnaire called Parent View.
When our school is notified of its next Ofsted inspection, parents will be invited to give their views about the school to inspectors using the Parent View online facility as this has replaced Ofsted’s paper questionnaire.
Please register with an email address and a password at http://parentview.ofsted.gov.uk. Once your login has been activated, it only takes a few minutes to complete answers to 12 short questions about aspects such as bullying, the quality of teaching, level of homework, etc.
Your views are important in helping inspectors make a decision about our school, and to help us know what is going well and what could be improved.
I hope you enjoy learning more about our small, friendly school through our website. If you require any further information, please contact us.
